Day 01: Chennai
Upon arrival at Chennai International airport, our representative will meet you and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon visit Sojourn Fort, St. George, Fort Museum, St Mary’s Church, Kapaleeshwarar Temple and Marina Beach. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02: Chennai - Tirupati - Chennai
Morning after an early breakfast, proceed to Tirupati (180 kms / 4 hrs) and visit the world famous Tirupati Balaji Temple. The temple town Tirupati is in the state of Andhra Pradesh. After Darshan, return to Chennai for night stay.
Day 03: Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mamallapuram
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning checkout from the hotel and proceed to Mamallapuram or the present Mahabalipuram. On the way stop at Kanchipuram (55 kms from Chennai), known as the city of thousand temples including Buddhists, Jains and Hindus. Kanchipuram silk cloths are famous and you may buy directly from the vender. Upon reaching Mahabalipuram, check into the hotel. In the afternoon visit Mamallapuram, the ancient port of Pallavas. The temples here are having marvelous craft works and are architectural wonders. The Shore Temple, is an excellent example of Dravidian style construction. The Five Rathas are a group of five monolithic temples, each created in a different way. Return to the hotel in the evening.
Day 04: Mamallapuram - Tiruvannamalai - Pondicherry
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Tiruvannamalai (150 kms / 3 hrs). The temple belongs to Shaiva religion and believed to be one of the most ancient heritage sites of India. Visit the Arunachala Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva built between the 9th and the 10th centuries by the Chola kings of the Tamil empire. The temple is famous for its massive gopurams. Later in the afternoon drive to Pondicherry (110 kms / 2 hrs). Upon arrival check into the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 05: Puducherry (Pondicherry)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today will be full day tour of the city. Earlier it was under the French union and still a lot many Indian origins are French citizens. Prime attractions of the city is Sri Aurobindo ashram which was set up in 1926. Sri Aurobindo introduced yoga and meditation to his followers and the general public. The other attractions of the city are The Pondicherry Museum with wide collection of objects and articles even from the Tsung period in China, Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, built by French missionaries in the 1700’s. Rai Nivas and 300 years old Ganesh temple of Manakula Vinayagar Koil Temple. Evening return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 06: Puducherry - Chidambaram - Thanjavur
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Thanjavur (170 kms / 4 hrs), popularly known as the rice capital of India. En-route stop at Chidambaram and visit the famous Lord Nataraja Temple. Here God Shiva is in the form of a Cosmic Dancer – known as Shiva tandava. The dance form Bharatnatya is in accordance with it. On arrival in Thanjvur check into the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 07: Thanjavur – Tiruchirappalli (Trichy)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today is one another day to explore temple of South India. To start with Brihadeeswara Temple, a UNESCO world heritage site and is the oldest Shiva temple in India.
Thanjavur is famous in many aspects. It is called the “Rice bowl of Tamil Nadu" as it produces rice for the entire state. The famous Carnatic music, Thanjavur paintings and musical instruments, dance and traditional handicrafts are all unique and famous. Proceed to Trichy (60 kms / 1 ½ hrs) and check into the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 08: Trichy - Madurai
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast temple tour of Trichy. Visit Srirangam, a half an hour drive from the city located in an island of Srirangam, surrounded by Kaveri River. Visit the gigantic Sri Ranganathaswamy temple. There are about 22 gopurams and the tallest one has 72 m high 13 tiered Gopuram. Proceed further to Rock Fort of 83 mt. high. Continue drive to Madurai (140 kms / 3 hrs). Upon arrival check into the hotel.
Day 09: Madurai
Breakfast at the hotel. The city of Madurai is about 2500 old is situated on the bank of river Vaigai and was the Kingdom of Pandya kings in the past century. It is also known as lotus city as it is constructed in the shape of Lotus flower. In the evening witness the Prayer Ceremony at the Meenakshi Temple. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 10 : Madurai – Rameshwaram
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Rameshwaram (180 kms / 4 hrs). For Hindus, visiting Rameshwaram is treated as a life time opportunity. The famous Ramanatha Temple is the prime attraction here. One of the twelve Jyotirlinga Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva is in Rameshwaram. Aggni Tirtham is one of the Tirthas of Rameswaram, 2-story hilltop Hindu temple with holy wells, a shrine to Lord Rama's footprints & good views. Other important places are Jada Thirtham, Dhanushkodi Temple, Five Faced Hanuman Temple. Adam’s Bridge, Abdul Kalam Museum, Thiruppullani, Jatayu Thirtham, Villoondi Theirtham etc. Night at the hotel
Day 11: Rameshwaram - Kanyakumari
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning drive along the costal line to Kanyakumari (300 kms / 5 ½ hrs). Upon arrival check into the hotel. After fresh up, visit Kanyakumari Amman temple, embark on a boat to Swami Vivekananda’s Memorial, 200 meter away from the shore,
Thiruvalluvar Statue. Evening watch spectacular sunset from the beach. There are a lot of shopping opportunities here like big and small shell and other sea articles.
Day 12: Kanyakumari – Poovar - Kovalam
Morning watch sunrise from the beach or from the terrace of your hotel. Later proceed to Trivandrum (90 kms / 3 hrs). On the way darshan at Sucheendran Temple. Visit the wooden palace of Padmanabahpuram. Poovar is the place for speed boating, cannoning, river cruise and other water activities. Check into the hotel and evening free to relax on the beach.
Day 13 : Kovalam – Trivandrum / Departure
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit Padmanabha Swamy temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu which is known as the richest God of the world. The walls of the temple has exquisite carvings and age old murals. Visit Napier Museum, the 19th century Indo Saracenic architecture monument. In time transfer to Trivandrum international airport to board the flight for onward destination.
